Position PurposeActing on own initiative, the Bulk Wine Logistics Manager is responsible for logistics forecasting, planning, and scheduling, inbound inventory for import and domestic bulk wine as well as Delicato owned exported bulk wine. This role works cross-functionally with team members in CRG, Compliance, Winemaking, Strategic Supply, Accounting, Global Logistics, Cellar, and external winery partners, freight forwarders and customs brokers. The scope of this position includes, but is not limited to, imported, exported, and domestic bulk wine for cased goods production and CRG sales.

  • Ensures compliance and consistent application of company policies, initiatives, and decisionsEssential Duties
    • Collaborates with the Bulk Wine Import team, CRG, Strategic Supply, Compliance, Brokers and Supplier to support logistics of bulk wine transportation
    • Manages import logistics with suppliers, and freight forwarders to include a forecast for product readiness, container reservation and vessel bookings; provides Spec Sheet and Bulk Wine Logistics Program report to communicate all transportation information and documentation required to clear customs and adhere to regulatory requirements
    • Manages domestic transportation of purchased wine coordinating with suppliers, and carriers to include a forecast of product readiness, cellar capacity and blend/bottling requirements
    • Coordinates with Commercial Bulk Wine Director, Strategic Supply Chain Manager and Winemaking to review current supply and forecasted demand to determine the best arrival window that allows Winemaking to process the wine in time to meet bottling schedules; coordinates capacity impact of arrivals with Cellar
    • Leads weekly sourcing logistics meeting with winemaking, cellar and operations to review in transit bulk wine, logistics issues, upcoming tank capacity needs, position of incoming in bond or tax paid status and update of import market and long-term challenges
    • Responsible for reconciliation and endorsement of billing for supplied bulk wine freight, freight forwarding, surcharges, broker fees and Customs related costs
    • Communicates with Winemaking, Supply Chain, Cellar, Shipping and Receiving the delivery details to include the Delivery Notice and delivery instructions; resolves any issues with removing the containers from port and delivery to Delicato with the freight forwarder
    • Ensures receipt and compliance required regulatory import documents to eliminate potential holds or obstacles with Customs; partners with Compliance for final regulatory review and record retention
    • Collaborates with Commercial Bulk Wine Director, Bulk Operations Director, brokers, and suppliers to obtain CBMA credits; delivers CBMA Assignment Certifications and Control Group Spreadsheet to our Customs Broker to file with the Customs Boarder Protection Agency to use the credits at the time of entry at a US port
    • Tracks all CBMA credits for a summary review for potential tax savings
    • Implements all negotiated freight forwarder, customs broker, and transportation rates in collaboration with the Global Logistics Director, identifies alternative transportation and resolves issues as necessary; supports integration of new lanes and carriers
    • Takes part in WPW wine supply review to discover current demand latest estimates and communicate any concerns with meeting demand due to logistics challenges
    • Recommends transportation schedule to support vintage, blend requirements and most cost-effective and efficient transit lead times
    • Provides shipping forecast based on ETD and ETA to support cellar and winemaker requirements for wine preparation and bottling based on Delicato wine contracts, suppliers wine availability, storage contracts, optimal blend components and cased goods forecast
    • Assists International Specialist with audits, reviews all Customs Broker Tax and Duty invoices in ESKER for final approval and payment based on Delicato's Delegation of Authority
    • Updates DV Purchase Order to include cost of freight, duties, and taxes to reflect the correct Cost of Goods for the product; supports Global Logistics Director with budgeting and estimating logistics expenses
    • Ensures all transportation terms of contract, quality specifications and compliance requirements are adhered to with winery partners and transportation companies; escalates any issues for resolution to the Global Logistics Director

          • Associates degree in Statistics, Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience
          • 5+ years direct experience in logistics, transportation, or planning
            Certificates and Licenses
            • APICS certification preferred
              Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
              • Must have good communication skills, interpersonal skills, and proven problem-solving ability
              • Experience working with SAP ECC or equivalent ERP
              • Must possess knowledge of supply chain activities.
              • Must be self-motivated with strong analytical skills and high energy for business process improvements
              • Strong knowledge of Microsoft suite of office tools including advanced Excel skills
              • International transportation experience a plusWorking Conditions
                • General office environment with occasional travel
                • Required to drive automotive equipment
                • Occasionally may be required to lift and carry cases of wineWork Standards
