POSITION SUMMARY:Under the direction of the Custom Shop Production Supervisor, the Embroidery Operator position is accountable for transferring digitized design onto 5.11 Tactical product. Operates multi and single head embroidery machine. Responsible for helping with processing orders through preparing garments, programming machines for the design, and making quality adjustments as necessary. Must possess a close attention to detail and follows good judgement to exceed our customer's expectations. Responsible for meeting department and individual goals.RESPONSIBILITIES:Must follow all department Standard Operating ProceduresMust learn or have existing experience with all Embroidery techniques and applicationMust be familiar with all 5.11 products and their construction to better understand embellishment opportunities and limitationsReads work order to determine type and location of embroideryMust understand how the order needs to be produced prior to embellishmentVerify order for garment style, sizes, and quantities prior to beginning productionExtracts the correct dst file from Shopworks and enters the appropriate art into the embroidery computer systemSelects size and color thread and draws it through machine guides and bobbin.Ensures that correct thread and needles are usedProduces sew-out for Embroidery Leads approvalRemoves and replaces bobbin when neededRegulate embroidery machine tension/settingsWatch closely for quality issues and corrects as necessaryNotifies Embroidery Lead of shortages with ordersHoops garments correctly and efficientlyApplies backing and solvy if neededObserves sewing operation to detect defects in stitching Informs Embroidery Lead of machine malfunctionRepairs defective embroidery or fills in blanks left by embroidery machineUses scissors to trim away backing as necessaryWorks ahead on prepping next orderResponsible for quality of each embellishmentResponsible for proper operation of equipmentMaintains neat and efficient working areaAssists in solutions to improve efficiencies and can troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely mannerScans orders complete in Shopworks.Performs other duties and tasks as assignedQUALIFICATIONS:To perform the job successfully, an individual should have the following credentials:Previous work experience in a cut and sew, screen print or embroidery company preferredBasic computer / keyboard knowledge is requiredMust have or acquire functional knowledge of company ERP (Dynamics AX) and the Custom Shop production management solution Shopworks.Ability to read, write, and comprehend English instructions. Listens and gets clarification. Listens to others without interruptingAbility to add and subtract two-digit numbers to fill out production records.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.
