Port Maintenance Foreman

Salary: $13,054 - $15,830 monthly

Location: Aviation Facilities, CA

The Port of Oakland is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Port Maintenance Foreman. Under direction, the Foreman ensures that maintenance and construction projects meet established performance standards and are completed in accordance with Port policies and procedures. This position requires a broad understanding of maintenance operations, public works construction, and supervisory practices.



Key Responsibilities

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

--- Supervising maintenance and construction crews responsible for airport and marine terminal facilities, including buildings, roofs, wharves, sewer and drainage systems, streets, parking lots, runways, taxiways, and landscaping.

--- Assigning and scheduling work; submitting timecards and tracking project hours.

--- Estimating labor and material costs; selecting and ordering supplies and equipment.

--- Inspecting ongoing work and facilities for maintenance needs and compliance.

--- Implementing safety procedures compliant with California State Safety Orders.

--- Maintaining inventory control over materials, tools, and hardware.

--- Using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage schedules, costs, and productivity.

--- Preparing budgets, performance reports, and ensuring adherence to project timelines.



Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience:

--- High school diploma or GED.

--- Two (2) years of experience in public works construction and maintenance.

--- One (1) year of experience in a lead or supervisory role.

--- Coursework in leadership or supervision is highly desirable.



Knowledge of:

--- Construction and maintenance methods, materials, and practices.

--- Supervision techniques, including training, performance evaluation, and discipline.

--- Safety practices and related codes and regulations.

--- Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, email, etc.).



Ability to:

--- Interpret and apply technical documents such as blueprints and specifications.

--- Make sound decisions and apply safety principles.

--- Maintain effective communication and working relationships.

--- Prepare reports and perform basic math calculations.

--- Implement preventative maintenance strategies and evaluate work alternatives.
